Note that this is what's known as a "difficult" movie! It is slow moving with lots of talking and little action of any kind. But, on repeated viewings, it often grows on the viewer until they often consider it to be a masterpiece! Other movies like this include Dreyer's earlier "The Passion of Joan of Arc" and "Ordet", plus other movies like "Vertigo", "Last Year at Marienbad", "Red Desert", and others.
