Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Czechoslovakian Movie Poster (measures 12 1/2" x 37 1/4") (Learn More) The Bitter Tea of General Yen, the 1932 Frank Capra Asian Chinese Revolution missionary interracial romance romantic melodrama ("She came to save souls - and nearly lost her own!"; an extremely daring movie for its day; Stanwyck is a missionary sent to China, to meet her fiance, also a missionary, but they are separated and she is injured, and she is taken to a Chinese general, and when his mistress is accused of betraying him, Stanwyck pleads with him to spare the mistress' life, and he does, but she then DOES betray him, and he is ruined, and Stanwyck realizes her tragic mistake and offers herself to him!) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Nils Asther (in the title role as General Yen), Toshia Mori, Walter Connolly, and Gavin Gordon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This Czech poster measures 12 1/2" x 37 1/4" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster was folded twice horizontally. There is faint ink transfer at the bottom of the poster (from the title area) caused by the poster being folded too quickly after printing. The poster had tiny tears and tiny paper loss in some borders. Other than the above basically minor defects, the poster was in nice condition prior to linenbacking. It was well backed, and looks quite nice! Learn More about condition grades
