An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Stage Play Poster (measures 23 1/2" x 35" [60 x 89 cm]) (Learn More) Broadway, the 1930s Swedish stage play poster (for a touring play production by the Oscarsteatern). Note that Oscarsteatern (The Oscar Theatre) is one of Stockholm's private theatres and is the best-known musical theatre in Sweden. It was built in 1906 and named after King Oscar II. The theatre is considered the foremost venue for musical productions and operettas in Sweden. We were unable to determine exactly when this production occurred, but we think it was likely in the 1930s (possibly in the early 1930s). This poster has great Hakansson art of a dancing man (dressed like Uncle Sam, in red, white, and blue with stars and stripes) and showgirls, and it obviously is set in New York City, and certainly deals with stage plays. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Hakansson Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this poster before! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had pinholes in the top corners and some faint creases and scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
