An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Mile-a-Minute Kendall, the 1918 William Desmond Taylor (billed as "William D. Taylor") silent family relationship car racing romantic melodrama ("Scenario by Gardner Hunting"; based on the play by Owen Davis) starring Jack Pickford (in the title role as Kendall), Louise Huff, Charles Arling, Jane Wolfe, Casson Ferguson, and Lottie Pickford (Jack Pickford's sister, playing a vamp who is Kendall's initial love interest!). Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still was consigned to us by legendary collector/dealer Marty Davis! Marty was hired in 1972 to evaluate the entire collection of W. Ward Marsh (1893-1971), who was the film critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper from 1919, until his retirement in 1970. In 1919 Marsh wrote his first of 23,000 movie reviews for the Plain Dealer. Marsh died less than a year after his retirement in 1970. His library, and photographic and memorabilia archives were given to the proprietor of Cleveland's finest bookstore. Marty Davis was the first person with a background in film history and collectibles to examine the archives. He worked for three to four hours a day, for six months, and his compensation was his pick of the archives. This still is from the W. Ward Marsh archives, and it was stamped on the back by Marty Davis to indicate that it came from this legendary collection. Condition: very good. Note that there are white areas in the corners that look like they COULD be a defect of some sort, but they are NOT. They exist on stills from silent films that have this sort of black border around the edges. It appears that stills of this sort were made by actually blowing up a frame of film, and perhaps those white areas are some sort of sprocket holes. In any event, they are contained within the printing and are not any sort of defect! Learn More about condition grades
