An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Jiggs and Maggie Out West, the 1950 William Beaudine cowboy western screwball comedy ("Based on the original newspaper feature [comic strip] by George McManus") starring Joe Yule (as Jiggs), Renie Riano (as Maggie), George McManus (billed as "and Cartoonist George McManus"; as himself), Jim "Red" Bannon, Tim Ryan, Riley Hall, June Harrison, "Bomber" Kulkowich, and Terry McGinnis (billed as "Special added attraction Wrestling stars 'Bomber' Kulkowich Terry McGinnis"). George McManus was the cartoon genius who started "Bringing Up Father" in 1913. Before that, he had drawn some other newspaper comic strips including a series of "Let George Do It" strips. In 1916, animated cartoons were adapted from "Bringing Up Father", but they were not very successful. In 1924, the Stern Brothers signed to do a series of live action adaptations of the "Let George Do It" cartoons, and they were very successful, spawning a long series, and two years later, there were live action "Bringing Up Father" movies. In 1946, a new series of live action movies started, and it was also popular, spawning several sequels. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: George McManus Condition: good.
