An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" [26 x 34 cm]; 54 pages) (Learn More) Step Out With Universal, the 1932-33 Universal campaign book ("The box office book 1932-33") featuring upcoming Universal movies and stars from movies that were planned for production or release by Universal in the coming year including: The Invisible Man, S.S. San Pedro, Laughter in Hell, Once in a Lifetime, and many more. This campaign book contains colorful artwork (mostly 1 and 2-page spreads) as well as information on writers, directors, and Universal staff. This book has some of the finest full-color artwork of any campaign book, and we wish we could reproduce all of the ads, because they are just so incredible! Also note that, as was often the case with these campaign books, some of the movies advertised were either never made, had their titles changed before they were released, or were made with different casts than those announced in the campaign book! Note that in the case of this particular campaign book, there is a really cool ad for "Cagliostro", which turned into "The Mummy", and it also has ads for two other Universal horror movies "The Old Dark House" and "The Invisible Man" (and on The Invisible Man it says that he will be played by "that master of the impossible - BORIS KARLOFF", when of course, Claude Rains actually played the role!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: fair. There is a 5" vertical scratch in the left of the cover and some light staining on both covers. There are two pages (on both sides of one sheet) missing from the interior (one is an ad for "The Old Dark House" and the other is half of a 2-page ad from "Counsellor-At-Law"). The other best ads are intact (Cagliostro with Karloff and Invisible Man with Karloff!). The staples of the book have weakened and many of the interior pages are now loose, but other than the pages being loose and the missing page, the other interior pages are in pretty nice condition.
