An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Britannia Mews (released in the U.S. as "The Forbidden Street" and also as "Impulse"), the 1949 Jean Negulesco English romantic melodrama ("For Herself Alone... She must answer for what she was and did!"; "For herself alone she was responsible!"; "Screen Play by Ring Lardner, Jr."; "Based on 'Brittania Mews' by Margery Sharp"; set in Victorian London) starring Dana Andrews (in a dual role!), Maureen O'Hara, Dame Sybil Thorndike, Diane Hart, Anne Butchart, Fay Compton, Wilfrid Hyde-White, Herbert Walton, Catherine Paul, June Allen, Heather Latham, and Suzanne Gibbs NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). OR you can't see the restoration because it was so well done, but the poster had fairly significant defects. OR no restoration was performed, but the defects are not major, and restoration could be done to the poster without re-backing it. See below for its pre-restoration defects (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had a quarter-sized area of paper loss at the top crossfold (in O'Hara's mouth and cheek), as well as small paper loss in her nose and in the background area 1" above that. There were small holes at the other crossfolds and a minor amount of other fold and border wear. The poster was extremely well linenbacked (most likely by Igor Edelman), and the restoration is not at all noticeable or distracting, and the poster looks great! Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
