An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) The Shopworn Angel, the 1928 Richard Wallace World War I (WWI) New York City romantic love triangle melodrama ("From the story by Dana Burnet"; based on the play "Private Pettigrew's Girl"; about a lonely World War I soldier on leave in New York City and a beautiful showgirl agrees to pretend to be his date to impress his friends, but then a real romance begins) starring Nancy Carroll, Gary Cooper (in an important early role!), Paul Lukas, Roscoe Karns, Memmett King, and Mildred Washington. Even though Gary Cooper was clearly a star at this time, he was still billed after Nancy Carroll, because he was not yet a superstar, and she was! Note that this play was first made into a movie in 1919 almost under its original title, as "Pettigrew's Girl". It was remade in 1938 with James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan in "Shopworn Angel". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: good. There is faint staining scattered over the entire image. We imagine it can be cleaned, but bear this significant defect in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
