This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a thicker paper backing, it CAN'T be sent rolled (someone could conceivably roll it or try to do so, but we think it would have a strong chance of lessening its condition, so we will only send it in a large flat package, unless the buyer insists, and then they would be responsible for any damage). What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster was paperbacked many years ago. It had surface paper loss at the crossfolds and an extra fold just above the regular bottom fold, and there was tiny paper loss in Coburn and Monroe's face where those two folds cross them. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to paperbacking. Many years ago, someone had this poster paperbacked. The restorer did a nice job paperbacking it, and used restoration paint for the above areas. However, the poster was displayed and faded considerably and all of the red colors are significantly lighter. This also unfortunately resulted in the restoration paint standing out drastically. One could certainly have another restorer paint over the restoration paint that shows (especially in the faces at bottom right), or one could even attempt to restore the entire poster to how it originally was before it faded, but either of these options might be expensive, so please bear in mind these significant defects and the fading before placing a bid on this poster.
