Date Sold 8/1/2023 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 4 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Chelsea Girls, the 1966 Paul Morrissey & Andy Warhol New York City art house avant-garde melodrama (the film follows various residents of the legendary Chelsea Hotel in 1966 New York City, presented in a split screen with a single audio track in conjunction with one side of screen) starring Brigid Berlin, Randy Borscheidt, Christian Paffgen, Angelina 'Pepper' Davis, Dorothy Dean, Nico, Edie Sedgwick, International Velvet, and Mary Woronov. Note that the first release poster for this movie is as famous or more famous than the movie itself. It has an image created by Alan Aldridge that incorporates a very sexy naked girl with portions of the Chelsea Hotel, and is extremely "eye catching". Andy Warhol was extremely happy with the design, and he said he "wished the movie was as good as the poster"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that movie paper from this film is incredibly rare! We have auctioned three examples of a 1970s re-release British Crown featuring the Alan Aldridge artwork mentioned above, but we have auctioned NO other movie paper whatsoever for it from any country until we were consigned this group of four stills! That is not surprising, because this was a controversial "arthouse" movie that surely did not play in many theaters. The still pictured at upper left has an image of artwork created specifically for the movie (such stills are far more rare than stills which show scenes from the movie). Condition: very good to fine. The stills have a few light scuffs that are mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light but overall the very rare group of stills is in nice condition!
