An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 29 1/4" x 41 1/4" [74 x 105 cm]) (Learn More)

Children of the Sun, the 1934 Samuel Cummins nudist sexploitation documentary ("The French Nudist"; "Nature in the raw"; "Something new and different"). Note that this documentary discusses the birth, growth and future of the 1930s nudist movement in the United States and Europe, with particular emphasis on France, where most of the scenes had been shot. Producer/director Samuel Cummins was a major figure in early sexploitation movies who is almost completely forgotten today, and it is very difficult to find information about him or his movies. Cummins was a Jewish-American of unknown heritage who was born in New York in 1895. In 1919, he produced the amazing (for his time) film "The Solitary Sin", which dealt with masturbation and venereal disease! He made at least one more movie in 1919 and then two in the late 1920s, and then he appears to have made this movie in 1934, and another non-sex related movie "War is a Racket" the same year, and in 1937, he apparently edited the wacky documentary "Love Life of a Gorilla"! He wrapped up his career in 1952 by directing a documentary on nudism called "10 Days in a Nudist Camp". This is the information about him we could glean from the Internet, but there are long gaps between movies, and the information on the movies listed is so sketchy that it is hard to know how accurate it is. We do know that he was responsible for first importing the classic Hedy Lamarr movie "Ecstasy" to the U.S. in 1935, although it could not be shown until years after. We do know for certain that this movie, "Children of the Sun", was made in 1934 and was distributed by Samuel Cummins and shown in the U.S., but we can't say for certain exactly what Samuel Cummins' connection to it was (but he likely acquired the rights to it from a different filmmaker). If anyone has more information about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 29 1/4" x 41 1/4" [74 x 105 cm].

Note that in recent months we started auctioning a wonderful collection of sexploitation one-sheets that includes many extremely rare titles from a single collector, and that collection includes lots of folded one-sheets, but also rolled one-sheets, special posters, and some other posters as well. This month there are 95 different rolled posters (all are in separate auctions), and they include a number of posters that we have only auctioned once or twice before. There are also a number with great images or taglines. This is an excellent opportunity to add one or more of these rare rolled posters to your collection, and this consignor only had one of each title, so on the rare ones, it may be quite some time before we offer the same title again!

Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has a few creases and tears of varying lengths (approximately 1" or less) along the blank borders and there are a few faint scuffs in the background area. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well!
