An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Gloria's Romance, the 1916 Colin Campbell & Walter Edwin silent romantic adventure serial ("A Motion Picture Novel by Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Hughes"; this was an attempt to have a serial that was not filled with action and adventure, and it contained 20 chapters revolving around various romances in the life of star Billie Burke, but the public did not respond to this new sort of romantic serial!) starring Billie Burke ("by arrangement with F. Ziegfeld Jr."; in the title role as Gloria), Henry Kolker, David Powell, William Roselle, Frank Belcher, and William T. Carleton. Note that this is a "lost" serial which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, either because the restorer did not do a very good job, or because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had creases and tears scattered throughout the image, including many in Burke's body, but very few in her face or hair, and pinholes, tears, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above general defects and the restoration of the defects (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects). I can imagine some collectors displaying this poster just as it is, and accepting the defects and signs of restoration, although other collectors would only display it if it had additional restoration.
