Van Dyke tropical Pacific island romantic melodrama ("Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's first sound picture!"; based on the novel by Frederick O'Brien) starring Monte Blue, Raquel Torres, Robert Anderson, Renee Bush, Napua, and Dorothy Janis. Note that director W.S. Van Dyke had gotten his start as an assistant on D.W. Griffith's "Intolerance" in 1916, and the following year, he was a director of many movies. He directed many westerns and other movies throughout the 1920s, and in 1928, he got his second big break when he helped Robert Flaherty direct "Shadows in the South Seas", and the following year, he was signed by MGM to make "Trader Horn", but it took two years to complete due to all the complications of location filming. The following year, he directed "Tarzan the Ape Man", and the huge success of that movie made him one of the top directors of the 1930s. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Schulz Neudamm Important Added Info: Note that this is a program from a specific German theater that showed this movie. They took the regular German program and bound it inside of a four page covering, which is on a heavier stock, and which has wonderful full-color images on the front and back (see our images). Note that we have provided an image of four of the pages of this 10-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and two of the interior pages together). You can see the four of the ten pages, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are six pages you are not seeing. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended). Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
