An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Sabotage, the 1939 Harold Young Germany spy espionage airplane aviation disaster thriller ("What's the truth about Sabotage?"; written by Lionel Houser; about a young man who works at an airplane factory, and when some of the planes are sabotaged, he is falsely accused and the factory is closed, but he goes to the mayor of the town and the mayor discovers that it was German spies who did the espionage, and then they kidnap the mayor, but everything works out in the end) starring Arleen Whelan, Gordon Oliver, Charley Grapewin, Lucien Littlefield, and Paul Guilfoyle. Note that this was one of the first American movies dealing with German spies committing espionage and sabotage in the U.S. (it is telling that it was by Republic Studios who had little distribution in Europe; at this time, the major studios steered clear of criticizing the Germans or Hitler for the most part, because they did not want to jeopardize their lucrative distribution in Germany). It would not be another year or two before the major studios started making similar movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good to fine.
