An Original 1956 Vintage Theatrical Folded Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (40x60; measures 40" x 60" [102 x 152 cm]) (Learn More) Donne Proibite (released in the U.S in 1956 as "Angels of Darkness" and as "Forbidden Women"), the 1954 Giuseppe Amato Italian prostitution melodrama ("Their trade was LOVE!"; "Daughters of the joy... Sisters in the sin!"; "Franca"; "Vally"; "Lola"; about a new law being passed in Rome closing brothels, and the movie follows the lives of several of the girls who worked there, and how they must try to find alternate ways of surviving) starring Linda Darnell, Anthony Quinn, Valentina Cortese, Lea Padovani, and Giulietta Masina. Note that Linda Darnell had been a major sexy star of the 1940s, but her career was slowing drastically by this time, and she accepted a relatively small role in this Italian movie (but for the American release, she was top billed!). After this movie, she made one more Italian movie and then a bunch of mostly TV appearances, after which she retired. Finally, note that U.S. posters were all originally printed with "Angels of Darkness" as the title, but some good number were overprinted with the alternate title of "Forbidden Women" (no doubt because that was more lurid). If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that most 40x60s from this period were printed on a heavy stock and usually only sent to theaters rolled. However, the studios would also sometimes make special 40x60s that were created on a somewhat thinner paper and were folded when they were created. Often, these would have reviews on them or have a special tie-in to a specific magazine or company. This is one of those 40x60s, and we don't think it exists in an unfolded version (but it is possible that is not correct). It was definitely folded at the poster exchange prior to being distributed to theaters. Condition: good. Learn More about condition grades
