An Original Vintage Folded Dutch World War II Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 39 1/4" [70 x 100 cm]) (Learn More)

Bolsjewisme is Moord! (literally translates to "Bolshevism is Murder!"), the 1943 Dutch World War II (WWII) poster created by the Nazi German-occupying forces to warn the Dutch people of the dangers of the Soviet armies approaching from the east. Note that this poster features art of a horrified woman next to her dead family (her husband has his hands tied and is shot in the neck) and a broken Christian crucifix. Note that by the end of the war, 205,901 Dutch men and women had died of war-related causes. The Netherlands had the highest per capita death rate of all Nazi-occupied countries in Western Europe (2.36%). Over half (107,000) were Jewish Holocaust victims, and there were also many thousands of non-Dutch Jews in the total, who had fled to the Netherlands from other countries, seeking safety (the most famous being Anne Frank). World War II left many lasting effects on Dutch society, and on May 4th the Dutch commemorate those who died during the war. Among the living, there are many who still bear the emotional scars of the war, both first and second generation, and in 2000 the government was still granting 24,000 people an annual compensatory payment.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: very good. The poster has minor wear on the folds, with tiny surface paper loss in the right two crossfolds of the bottom fold. It has some smudges scattered in the yellow background areas, with a few tiny brown dot stains in the bottom border, and slightly in the yellow background area. There are two small tape repairs on the back of the poster, but otherwise, the poster is completely unrestored.
