Date Sold 3/12/2024 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Theatrical English Front of House Movie Lobby Cards (FOH LCs; 8x10; measure 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) (Learn More) The Proud Valley (released in the U.S. in 1941 as "The Tunnel"), the 1940 Pen Tennyson English Welsh coal mining cave-in disaster melodrama (about an American seaman who goes to work in a Welsh mining town; there is a cave-in and the workers want to rescue the trapped miners, but the management refuses; ultimately, Robeson sacrifices his life so that the trapped miners can be rescued) starring Paul Robeson (one of the first black African American actors to achieve success in mainstream sound movies; "The Samson of Song!"), Edward Chapman, Simon Lack, Rachel Thomas, Dilys Thomas, Edward Rigby, and Janet Johnson. Note that the producers of this melodrama wanted to give Paul Robeson a chance to use his magnificent voice, so they had scenes where he sings in the local church choir!
