An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (measures 11 3/4" x 17 3/4"; 20 pages) (Learn More)

The Tunnel (released in the U.S. as "The Transatlantic Tunnel"), the 1935 Maurice Elvey English science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy melodrama ("GB's Eight Star Special"; "New York to London"; "Based upon the novel 'The Tunnel' by B. Kellermann"; about building a tunnel under the sea from New York to London; in 1935, it seemed like a wild fantasy, but now another project that was once a fantasy has become a reality with the Chunnel that connects London to the continent) starring Richard Dix, Leslie Banks, Madge Evans, Helen Vinson, C. Aubrey Smith, George Arliss (as the British Prime Minister), and Walter Huston (as the President of the United States). Note that Walter Huston played the current President of the United States for the second time (the first time was two years before in Gabriel Over the White House, a wonderful movie!). Note that Arliss and Huston received special billing that reads "Special Portrayals by Mr. George Arliss and Mr. Walter Huston".

Condition: good. pressbook was once in a bound volume and all pages are loose and have tears running down the left edge; someone put tape down the spine for reinforcement; similarly most of the pages were separated at the right edge of the middle fold (the side farthest from the spine), and someone put a 2" piece of tape on all pages at that edge; the interior pages of this pressbook are on newsprint and are very fragile; the covers are made of better paper and are not so fragile; there is small paper loss and tears around the edges of all pages

This pressbook is in clearly lesser condition. It has significant defects, such as tears, stains, smudges, and small areas of paper loss around the edges. It may have ads cut out, or be very fragile. It has also been folded in half across the middle. We have given a good general description of the defects this pressbook has above. Please do not bid on this pressbook unless you can accept the clear defects that it has (if you look at the images we provide and read our description, you should get a good sense of what defects this pressbook has).
