An Original Vintage French Souvenir Program Book (measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" [23 x 31 cm]; 43 pages) (Learn More)

The Folies Bergere is a cabaret music hall established in 1869 in Paris, France. Revues featured extravagant costumes, sets and effects, and often nude women. In 1926, Josephine Baker caused a sensation at the Folies Bergere by dancing in a costume consisting of a skirt made of a string of artificial bananas and little else. It has been the stage for many other famous acts including: Maurice Chevalier, Fernandel, W.C. Fields, Ella Fitzgerald, and many, many more!
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this item (and seven other items, which also have this on their auction) were acquired by our consignor from the Liza Minelli Auction at Profiles in History. It was the personal property of Ms Minelli's father, Vincente, which Liza acquired after his passing. Our consignor does not have a Certificate of Authenticity (because the item was in a group lot) but we are certain it was Ms Minelli's father's personal property. Also, note that we have pictured the front cover and an interior 2-page spread from this program. You can use these images to determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are some other pages you are not seeing. Also note that this item contains some nudity, so we have placed a white bar over those areas for those who are bothered by such images. Of course, the actual item does not have the white bars.

Condition: good. The cover has creases in the top and bottom center of the die-cut area, and the first interior page has many light stains. The rest of the interior pages are in pretty nice condition. Someone put a protective plastic cover over the covers, but it could be easily removed (or left on, since it is doing its job well).
