An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (measures 11" x 16 3/4"; 18 pages) (Learn More) Soak the Rich, the 1936 Ben Hecht & Charles MacArthur (they not only directed, but also wrote the movie and produced it!) political communism socialism comedy (about a millionaire whose daughter goes to a progressive university he gives endowments to, and when her professor advocates a "soak the rich" bill that would drastically raise taxes on rich people, the father uses his influence to get the professor fired, and meanwhile, his daughter gets involved with a student group of communists!) starring Walter Connolly, Mary Taylor, John Howard, Alice D.G. Miller, and Ilka Chase. Note that although this movie was written 84 years ago, its subject matter is just as relevant in today's world, maybe even more so than it was in 1936! This movie was one of four that Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur directed and wrote between 1934 and 1936. They found far greater success as a screenwriting team, and wrote many great classics! Condition: fair to good. The pressbook was once in a bound volume and there are tiny holes and tiny areas of paper loss down the left side of the pressbook.
