An Original 1950 (from the first release of this movie in Japan) Vintage Theatrical Folded Japanese "B3" or "Nakazuri" Movie Poster (14x20; measures 14" x 20" [36 x 51 cm]) (Learn More) Adam's Rib, the classic 1949 George Cukor husband-and-wife-lawyers-on-opposite-sides courtroom legal crime comedy ("The Funniest Picture in 10 Years!"; "It's the hilarious answer to who wears the pants"; about a woman accused of trying to murder her husband who is defended in court by the wife of the prosecutor, which disturbs their marriage; with a screenplay written by Ruth Gordon and her husband Garson Kanin, years before she was in "Harold and Maude"!) starring Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn, Judy Holliday (in her second credited movie role!), Tom Ewell, David Wayne, and Jean Hagen. Note that screenwriters Ruth Gordon and Garson Kanin based Hepburn's and Tracy's relationship on their own marriage, and they did the same in other screenplays they wrote for Hepburn and Tracy! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1950 first release Japanese poster! Note that, immediately after World War II, the U.S. occupied Japan and part of Germany, and many American movies were shown in both countries between 1945 and the end of the occupation. Most of the Japanese posters we have seen from that period and many of the German posters and programs from the same period have a "Motion Picture Export Association" (MPEA) circular printed logo on the poster or program, and apparently this was a program run in conjunction with the U.S. government. Since there were many U.S. servicemen in Japan and Germany at this time, many of these posters and programs have the title written in both Japanese (or German) and in English. Also, note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded down the middle. There are some tiny stains in the top and down the right. Learn More about condition grades
