Date Sold 9/5/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Autographed Paper (measures 2 1/4" x 3" [6 x 8 cm]) (Learn More) Susan Oliver (born Charlotte Gercke) was an actress from the 1950s to the 1980s. She was a beautiful blue-eyed blonde, who made her debut in 1957's "The Green-Eyed Blonde" (but the movie was in black & white, so no one noticed). She was in The Gene Krupa Story two years later with Sal Mineo. She did quite a bit of TV in the 1950s and early 1960s, including in a memorable Twilight Zone episode opposite Roddy McDowall called "People Are Alike All Over". She had a very memorable role as Vina on the original pilot episode of TV's "Star Trek" in 1966 (the one with Jeffrey Hunter that was not used until much later, as the two-part "The Cage"). She landed a part in the hit TV series "Peyton Place", but then her character was killed by being pushed off a cliff. In 1964, she co-starred with Jerry Lewis in "The Disorderly Orderly", and she played Hank Williams' wife in "Your Cheatin' Heart". In the late 1960s, the quality of her movies went downhill. In 1966, she had been on a commercial plane flight where the plane nearly crashed, and she dealt with the stress that caused by becoming a private pilot! She won the "Powder Puff Derby" flying event in 1970, being named "Pilot of the Year". In the 1970s and early 1980s, she mostly did TV. She never married, and she got lung cancer, and passed away in 1990, and she was only 58 years old. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Susan Oliver (she added "Best from Green Eyes")! The signed paper has been glued to an original 8" x 10" still (see our images). Note that this is one of many items that was consigned to us by legendary Tarzan collector Phil Petras. Mr. Petras was one of the greatest Tarzan fans ever, and he became good friends with several of the actors who played Tarzan, and over many decades, starting in the 1970s, he would meet with actors and actresses who had appeared in Tarzan movies, sometimes on the sets of films, and sometimes at fan gatherings. Prior to his recent passing, he consigned most of his collection to us, and we are currently auctioning many of his autographed items, sometimes from actors who played Tarzan or Jane, and sometimes from actors who appeared in one or more Tarzan movies (but the items we are auctioning may or may not be from their Tarzan films). Mr. Petras naturally did not have "certificates of authenticity", but we feel certain that the autograph on this item, and every other item we are currently auctioning from his collection, is surely authentic! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
