An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) House on Telegraph Hill, the 1951 Robert Wise crime film noir mystery thriller ("Based on a Novel by Dana Lyon"; a very convoluted story of greed and deception!; a woman in a Nazi concentration camp in World War II is freed at the end of the war, and assumes the identity of a friend who is heir to a fortune; she goes to San Francisco to claim it and discovers she is now the trustee of the friend's boy, so she must now pose as his mother; he inherits his aunt's fortune, and she falls in love with the trustee, but discovers the trustee is actually having an affair with the boy's governess, and that they had already murdered the aunt and are now planning to kill her as well!) starring Richard Basehart, Valentina Cortesa, William Lundigan, Fay Baker, and Gordon Gebert NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had minor creases on some foldlines, and minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but it was roughly handled over the years since it was backed, and it has some minor creases down the right blank border (they are truly not very noticeable at all, and of course, would not show when the poster was framed).
