An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Movie Poster (measures 23 1/2" x 39 1/2" [60 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) The Glimpses of the Moon, the 1923 Allan Dwan silent romantic love triangle melodrama ("Adapted by Lloyd Shelton from the novel by Edith Wharton"; according to IMDB, F. Scott Fitzgerald was an uncredited writer for this film; about a poor beautiful woman who lives off her wealthy friends; she loves a poor author, and she marries him, but when their marriage goes sour, a rich friend of hers tries to win him, but without success) starring Bebe Daniels, Nita Naldi, David Powell, Maurice Costello, Rubye De Remer, and Billy Quirk. Note that a knowledgeable showed us a newspapers article from 1935 which mentions that Anne Shirley had an uncredited role in this film (under the name Dawn O'Day), which would make it one of her earliest roles. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that apparently this movie had its title changed before it was first released in Sweden, because the poster was originally printed with one Swedish title, and then a large corrective title snipe with a different Swedish title was carefully pasted over that area. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster has a studio-issue title change snipe . It had a circular tear in the top center background area and some creases and small tears scattered near the foldlines, with a long slightly diagonal tear in the bottom half of the center of the poster. It had a 5" tear in the upper left border and some staining around the edges. There is a scuff in the bottom right. It is difficult to know what defects the poster had when it was first backed, and what it has acquired over the years since then. The poster was simply backed on to a very thin linen with no excess, and either no or very little restoration was performed. If I owned this poster, I would surely have it removed from the thin linen, and backed by a talented professional. After the touch up of the defects described above, the poster will look fantastic!
