An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman, the 1958 Nathan Juran (billed as "Nathan Hertz") science fiction (sci-fi) giant female monster horror thriller starring Allison Hayes (in the title role as the 50 foot woman), William Hudson, Yvette Vickers, Roy Gordon, George Douglas, and Otto Waldis. Note that the posters for this movie have wonderful Reynold Brown artwork of a giant scantily clad woman standing over a highway, and it is rightly regarded as one of the finest poster images of the 1950s. One wishes one could say the same about the movie itself, but alas, that is not true! But the poster for this movie is surely one of the most memorable ever created! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Reynold Brown Important Added Info: Note that this is one of the most popular 1950s horror/sci-fi images ever (because of its wonderful wacky Reynold Brown art), and surely many existing examples were displayed on fans' walls from 1958 through the 1970s, when the value of the poster was not that high. Many of those were likely ripped off the walls and discarded when the owners moved, and the ones that weren't surely had varying degrees of fading, tears, tape stains, etc. So we wonder how many of the surviving ones are in generally nice condition, especially without fading. The last example of this poster we auctioned (we have auctioned 13 over all our years of auctioning) was linenbacked and in "very good" condition, and that last one sold for $9,500! The last nine examples of this poster we auctioned were all linenbacked, and that tenth one before that was in 2013, and it auctioned for $19,000, no doubt both because it was in excellent condition and because it was not restored or backed (as this current one is). Condition: very good. The poster has creases in the top center that extend into the "CK of "ATTACK". This may have occurred when it was printed or folded, although it could have occurred later. There are faint brown stains on the back of the bottom of the vertical fold, in the same area where the NSS stamp is, and they extend 2" to the right of the vertical fold, but they do not have any effect on the front of the poster. Other than these truly minor defects the poster is in exceptional condition. It has no separation at the crossfolds and no pinholes or restoration of any kind. It has a 1/8" tear in the lower right blank border and a faint brown dot stain in the left of the top border, right by the top edge and two faint dot stains in the left of the bottom border. Certainly one would likely choose to leave this unrestored poster exactly as it is (especially because so many examples of this poster have been linenbacked), but I would think any talented restorer could flatten the top center area without doing any restoration at all, just so those creases (which are the only real defect the poster has) would virtually completely vanish. But no matter what the new owner does with it, that person will surely have one of the finest examples of this poster that there is! Learn More about condition grades
