Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster, as almost all early 1930s MGM one-sheets are, and the rotogravure ones are at least as rare, and maybe more so. We have never auctioned it before! In the late 1910s through the early 1930s, MGM (and sometimes Paramount and a couple of other studios) would often make a regular one-sheet for a movie and, instead of a second style regular one-sheet, would instead make a special "rotogravure" one-sheet. Named after the rotogravure picture sections at the time popular in Sunday newspapers, these one-sheets would be printed in a single color, often sepia, but sometimes other colors, and they would usually incorporate pictorial images from the movie combined in a montage fashion. Very few rotogravure one-sheet have survived, since they were printed on the same paper stock used in newspapers of the time, and the paper is very fragile and often darkens. Also note that this one-sheet measures 27 3/4" x 41 3/4" [70 x 106 cm]. Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded in half an extra time resulting in vertical foldlines at left and right and that has caused some separation in the crossfolds along the horizontal folds. The lower right crossfold and the ends of the lower horizontal fold are backed by tape and The poster has some creases and tiny tears along portions of some edges (also backed by the same tape). There is tape along several inches of the upper right edge of the upper horizontal fold and there are some tape repairs behind the upper left crossfold and left edge of that horizontal fold. There are tears and creases along the center horizontal fold (several areas are repaired with tape from the back). The poster otherwise can be displayed as it is, or after linenbacking with some proper restoration it would look great, but either way the new owner will have a wonderful and extremely rare poster to display on their wall!
