Ninotchka, the 1939 Ernst Lubitsch Capitalism-vs-Communism romantic comedy ("Garbo laughs in the greatest comedy hit of the year!"; "A new laughing Garbo"; "Garbo Laughs in the Ernst Lubitsch Comedy Production"; "[Don't Pronounce It - See It!]"; "Based on the original story by Melchior Lengyel"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; with a screenplay written by Charles Brackett, Billy Wilder and Walter Reisch; about a Soviet Russian woman who travels to Paris, France on business and discovers there is more to life than what Communism offers) starring Greta Garbo (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Ninotchka), Melvyn Douglas, Ina Claire, Bela Lugosi, Sig Ruman, Felix Bressart (the following year, he had a memorable role in Lubitsch's "The Shop Around the Corner"), and Alexander Granach.
