An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Autographed Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Ride the High Country (released in other English-speaking countries as "Guns in the Afternoon"), the classic 1962 Sam Peckinpah (directing his second big screen movie ever!) cowboy western ("Showdown in the High Sierras with the girl and the gold for the first to draw!"; "Showdown in the High Sierra!"; "In CinemaScope and Metrocolor"; about an ex-lawman who's hired to transport gold from the mountains and he hires an old friend to help him but the friend double-crosses him) starring Randolph Scott, Joel McCrea, Mariette Hartley, Ron Starr, Edgar Buchanan, James Drury, Warren Oates, and R.G. Armstrong. Note that this movie was excellent, thanks to the fine writing of Sam Peckinpah. But what really elevates it into being a classic of its kind is the inspired casting of two real life 1930s cowboy stars as the tired old stars of the movie. What is even more interesting is that originally the two stars were playing the opposite roles, but at some point early in production, Scott and McCrea realized they were better suited to playing the other role, and so they switched parts! Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by THREE people: Randolph Scott, Joel McCrea, AND R.G. Armstrong! Our consignor is in the movie business and he obtained these autographs in person, and one of the signatures is personalized to him. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signatures are authentic. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. Condition: fair. McCrea's autograph, which he wrote above his credit, partially on a tape repair, has faded. The poster has darkening and tape repairs around the edges.
