An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) The Seven Year Itch, the classic 1955 Billy Wilder married-man-with-roving-eye romantic comedy ("It's the stage riot that rocked New York for 3 years!"; "Based upon an original Play 'The Seven Year Itch' by George Axelrod"; the movie that features the famous scene where Marilyn is standing over the grating as her dress flies up around her legs; the entire movie was very sensational in its day!) starring Marilyn Monroe, Tom Ewell, Evelyn Keyes, Sonny Tufts, Robert Strauss, Oscar Homolka, Marguerite Chapman, Victor Moore (as the plumber; in his final movie role), Dolores Rosedale (billed as "Roxanne"), and Carolyn Jones. Note that the image of Marilyn Monroe with her skirt blowing up is rightfully the most remembered image of Marilyn from any of her movies. But this movie also has the memorable scene which was extremely risque for its time, where a naked Marilyn in a bubble bath gets her toe caught in the faucet and a plumber must free her! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This three-sheet was printed in 2 sections. Condition: good to very good. The poster had many tiny dot water stains scattered through the image. The ones in the solid black areas were not noticeable at all. The ones in the yellow letters were slightly touched up. The ones in Marilyn's white dress and legs were touched up enough to where only the faintest trace of them remain. There were creases, smudges, and some tiny areas of paper loss along many foldlines, and those have all been touched up. There were smudges and stains in the horizontal foldline that runs through the top of Marilyn's legs and the bottom of her dress, and these required added touch up. It is fortunate that there were next-to-no stains of any kind in Marilyn's head or face, although there was a tiny pinhole in the center of the bottom of her hair. There were pinholes, creases, and smudges around the edges of the poster. Likely due to handling over the years, there are some tiny areas of surface paper loss in various places in the poster. If I owned this great poster, I would first send it to a great restorer, and see if it can be touched up without re-backing it (I believe it can be). I would certainly want the poster to look the best it possibly can. After proper additional restoration, the poster will look fantastic, and it will NOT have that "heavily restored" look to it, because it really is a lot of very tiny scattered areas of restoration, and no significant large areas, and of course, as I pointed out, Marilyn's face will have next-to-no restoration at all.
