She appeared in some movies in 1935 and 1936, and then she contracted tuberculosis, which caused her to retire from the screen (and she began selling magazine subscriptions as a way of paying for her very expensive healthcare). She passed away in 1941 at the age of 27. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Irene Bennett! After Miss Bennett contracted TB in 1936, the cost of her care so drained her, that she took to selling magazine subscriptions as a way to finance her continuing healthcare. This price list and flyer from her subscription business has a long inscription at the bottom of the first page telling one of her customers about the subscription renewals he has coming due. It continues on the next page and is signed and dated by her. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia dealer for many years. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both collectors and people who worked on movies, and in some of those collections he purchased many autographed items, and sometimes he met with celebrities and had them autograph items he owned in person. Both we and our consignor feel it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. Condition: very good.
