Date Sold 2/18/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Scrapbook (measures 20" x 20"; 52 pages) (Learn More) Movie Stars Scrapbook, a circa 1922 scrapbook created by someone who loved the movies! They took a 20" x 20" sales book from the International Tailoring Co. that was created in 1921, which had large heavy stock pages showing samples from their line for 1921/22. The person who made the scrapbook took this sales book and glued magazine images of the greatest male and female movie stars of that time, including lots of Rudolph Valentino, Wallace Reid, Harold Lloyd, Sessue Hayakawa, Douglas Fairbanks, Lon Chaney Sr., and others, to all the interior pages, filling virtually every inch! In a few cases, there are some magazine stories below the images, but in most cases, there are just the images (and there are also a few 4-page magazine photos where only the bottom page is glued in). It is of course possible that they added images from after 1922, but looking at the stars and the images, we think it is quite likely that they all date from very close to 1922. See our images of some of the interior pages to get a sense of how this scrapbook looks. If anyone knows more about this scrapbook, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this scrapbook is very large, and quite heavy, so it will have to be sent in a very large, heavy package. Please bear this in mind before placing a bid on this scrapbook. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. If it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube (like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: fair to good. This was homemade by a fan of the movies! There are some names written on or near several of the photos, and they are all glued into the scrapbook. A few of the pages have completely separated from the spine and there is much wear on the covers. See our images to get a sense of the condition of this scrapbook. Learn More about condition grades
