Top Hat, the 1935 Mark Sandrich romantic singing-and-dancing musical comedy ("Ladies and Gentlemen, here's a Show!"; "America's happy dancing stars are here in a glorious show!"; "See them dance the reckless 'Piccolino,' this gay nation's new ballroom adventure!"; "... Hear the songs you can't forget!"; "The king and queen of rhythm on a joyous jamboree!"; "Music and Lyrics by Irving Berlin"; "See them dance the sensational Piccolino"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Edward Everett Horton, Helen Broderick, Erik Rhodes, Eric Blore, Donald Meek, and Lucille Ball (in a bit part as a flower clerk). Note that this was the one of the nine wonderful movies that Astaire and Rogers made between 1933 and 1939 (they made one final movie, "The Barkleys of Broadway", fourteen years later in 1949).

Important Added Info: Note that the pressbook has a really cool die-cut cover, and we have provided an image of the cover closed, and with it open, with the die-cut portion unfolded as intended. Also note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of the pressbook, plus an image of a two-page spread from inside of the pressbook (we did NOT picture the supplement or herald, but of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus the supplement and herald described above)!

Condition: good, WITH CUTS. The covers are mostly separated down the spine and there are some faint smudges scattered on Rogers' face. There are five cuts in the pressbook (one on page 27, one on page 29, two on page 31, and one on page 34). Other than the above defects, the pressbook is in surprisingly nice condition, and of course, the winner of this auction also gets the herald and the oversized 4-page supplement
