An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Cry of the City, the 1948 Robert Siodmak New York City crime film noir ("From a Novel by Henry Edward Helseth"; about two Italian teens who grow up as best friends, but one becomes a gangster and the other a police lieutenant, and he has to investigate his former best friend, who may have killed a cop) starring Victor Mature, Richard Conte, Fred Clark, Shelley Winters (one of her early "bad girl" parts which she was typecast in, until her breakout performance in "A Place in the Sun"!), Betty Garde, Berry Kroeger, Tommy Cook, Debra Paget, Hope Emerson, Roland Winters, Walter Baldwin, Konstantin Shayne, and Ken Christy NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. Condition: very good. The poster was never machine folded, but it was roughly folded by hand down the center, and there are creases down that fold. There is a 4" tear in the middle of the left border, and some pinholes, creases, and tears around the edges of the poster, some extending into the image.
