He was the world heavyweight boxing champion from 1937 to 1950, winning 26 championship fights during that time. He enlisted in the army at the start of 1942, and served all the way until 1945! He passed away in 1981 at the age of 66. Important Added Info: Note that this still is from the 1936 movie "Schmeling-Louis", which showed their famous fight in Yankee Stadium, where Joe Louis lost to Max Schmeling. Condition: good to very good. There is a 1" tear in the bottom of the right border and a 1/4" tear near the center of the left border.
