An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Other Company One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Romance in the Dark, the 1938 H.C. Potter romantic love triangle musical ("Based on the play 'The Yellow Nightingale' by Hermann Bahr"; "A gay continental love story!"; "Glorious singing!"; about a male opera star who sees a young opera singer at a competition, and he tells her to 'look him up' if she gets to where he lives, but then when she does, he ignores her, because he is romancing a countess, and she manages to get a job as a maid in his house!) starring Gladys Swarthout, John Boles, John Barrymore, Claire Dodd, Fritz Feld, and Curt Bois. Note that Gladys Swarthout was a real life Metropolitan Opera star, and Paramount built this movie around her singing. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this was printed by the "other company". This was a company in the Midwest that from roughly 1936 to roughly 1941 printed its own one-sheets and lobby card sets (and a very few inserts and half-sheets) for three major studio movies (Warner Brothers, Paramount and United Artists, but no other studios). The posters and lobby cards are from the original release of the movie, and almost always have completely different artwork from the regular studio release. They never have the name of the releasing studio on the poster or any of the lobby cards. Sometimes, "other company" posters or lobby cards have images that are the equal of those from the regular studio release posters or lobby cards! Condition: good to very good. The top quarter of the vertical foldline is neatly separated. There are a few tape repairs on the rest of the vertical foldlines. Learn More about condition grades
