A Group of 7 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Sheet Music (each measures approximately 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; see below) (Learn More) The Wizard of Oz, the classic 1939 Victor Fleming family magical fantasy adventure musical ("MGM's miracle musical show of shows!"; "It's Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Technicolor triumph!"; "Magnificent in its brilliant Technicolor splendor!"; "At Last It's Here Biggest Sensation Since "Snow White"!"; "The mighty miracle show that is the talk of America!"; "Amazing sights to see! The Tornado, Munchkinland, Horse of a Different Color, Startling Balloon Ascent, The Flying Monkeys, The Tree That Throws Apples"; "Gaiety! Glory! Glamour!"; based on the classic book of the same name by L. Frank Baum; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Judy Garland (as Dorothy), Frank Morgan (in the title role as The Wizard of Oz!), Ray Bolger (as The Scarecrow), Bert Lahr (as The Cowardly Lion), Jack Haley (as The Tin Man), Billie Burke (as Glinda, the Good Witch), Margaret Hamilton (as the Wicked Witch), Charley Grapewin, "The Munchkins", and Toto too! Note that MGM was worried about how well this movie would do at the box office, and they did something we don't remember seeing on any other major movie advertising! One of the taglines says "Biggest sensation since Snow White", which means MGM was advertising a Walt Disney movie, but that shows just how worried they were! Of course, they needn't have worried, because this was a timeless classic that has only improved with age. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these seven pieces of sheet music are from "The Wizard of Oz". They may LOOK like others you may have seen, as they often come up for auction, because they are a fun, less expensive way to get an original 1939 collectible from this all-time classic. But look again! Not only are these in pretty nice condition (and only two have a name handwritten on the cover, which happened a lot with sheet music), but there is something VERY special about them! One is for the song, "The Jitterbug", which by itself is extremely RARE because it was immediately cut from the film after the first preview! The others are for the five more famous songs (plus a rare British version), and all of these other six mention "The Jitterbug" in the list of the other available songs! How rare are these (which were obviously printed before the final print was struck, and which were discarded and reprinted minus the cut song)? Consider this: In all our 27 years of holding well over 1.4 MILLION auctions, we have auctioned 27 first release sheet musics from "The Wizard of Oz", and not ONE of those included "The Jitterbug" in the list of songs, and of course we have NEVER auctioned the sheet music for "The Jitterbug" itself before! This is a VERY RARE opportunity to acquire this Complete Set (plus the British version) from the original 1939 release of this most classic movie, all of which we have never auctioned before! Condition: very good. Two of the seven sheet musics have a name handwritten on the cover. Both of them are pretty small and in the middle left area. All have a small amount of creases and scuffs on the covers. Generally, these are in about as good condition as sheet music usually survives in (because they were normally very "handled" while people used them to play music). Please look at our super-sized images to get a good sense of the condition of each sheet music. Learn More about condition grades
