eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result c355 RIOT int'l three-sheet movie poster '69 Jim Brown & Gene Hackman in jail! Date Sold 2/12/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded International Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) Riot, the 1969 Buzz Kulik jail prison escape crime thriller ("Cully- Fletcher- Kelly- Mary- Surefoot- Grossman-"; "They exploded the ugliest riot in prison history to cover their dangerous, desperate break for freedom."; "Based upon "The Riot" by Frank Elli"; produced by William Castle) starring Jim Brown, Gene Hackman, Mike Kellin, Gerald S. O'Loughlin, Ben Carruthers, Clifford David, and "featuring inmates of Arizona State Prison". Note that there is a real mystery about this movie. We have auctioned stills from it that have captions on the back indicating that they were taken by photographer Lawrence Schiller, and several of them show "inmate/actor" Frenchie Wooten, who is a 24 year old who was "serving a 15 year sentence for killing a homosexual within the walls of the prison", and it also states that "Frenchie has been granted the second largest role in the movie". Yet, Frenchie Wooten is not billed as being in the movie, and there is nothing about him on the Internet. The only thing we can imagine is that the movie was being filmed with Wooten, but that when news of this came out, people (likely friends and relatives of the murdered man) objected to his being in the movie, and apparently his lines were completely removed from the movie, although it seems he is still in the prison scenes. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This three-sheet was printed in 2 sections. Note that this poster was stamped "FOR" which means it was printed for use outside the United States (there would also have been posters stamped "DOM" for use within the United States). Often, the "FOR" posters would have a different (sometimes racier) image than that for the one used in the United States. Condition: very good to fine. There is a censor stamp at top right. Other than the stamp, the poster is in nice condition, with minor fold and border wear. Learn More about condition grades
