An Original Vintage 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Still (Learn More) Hal Roach was a legendary producer of mostly comedy shorts from the 1910s to the 1940s (he is credited as the producer on over 1,200 of them!). He was the guiding force behind the Our Gang shorts, the Laurel & Hardy films, and the early Harold Lloyd films, among many, many others. In the early days, his films were released through Pathe. Later, he began distributing through MGM, and he sold his assets to them in the late 1930s and early 1940s. He passed away in 1992 at the age of 100! AND hem in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
