An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Four Daughters, the 1938 Michael Curtiz (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic family relationship sister melodrama sequel ("Fannie Hurst's Great Story"; "What happens when sisters become rivals in love!"; "From the Cosmopolitan Magazine story"; "Screenplay by Julius J. Epstein and Lenore J. Coffee"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Priscilla Lane, Rosemary Lane, Lola Lane, Gale Page, Claude Rains, John Garfield (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Jeffrey Lynn ("Tomorrow's biggest romantic favorite!"), Dick Foran, Frank McHugh, and May Robson. Note that this was John Garfield's very first movie, and Warner Bros. knew he would be a major star, so even though he only had a fairly small role, they billed him as "The most dynamic discovery since Cagney!", which was their highest praise (but to be fair, they also thought Jeffrey Lynn would be a big star, and that sure didn't happen). They were right, because Garfield stole the movie in his minor supporting role, and was nominated for an Oscar, and soon was a major star!

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this lobby card in all our years of auctioning! It is one of only two scene cards that John Garfield appears on (and he has a tiny image on the title card). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. The card has darkened, typical of Warner Bros. linen lobby cards of this period, more so around the edges. There is a faint 10" diagonal crease in the upper left, but it is not very noticeable from the front. There is a small tear in the lower right blank border and a fw pinholes and tiny creases in the corners. There are some tiny bits of surface paper loss scattered in the extreme outer edges of the blank borders. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
