Artist: Howard Chaykin Important Added Info: Note that this poster is "The Chaykin", the very first poster created in 1976 by artist Howard Chaykin to create 'buzz' for the project that George Lucas was working on that eventually became the Star Wars franchise! This poster was introduced at Comic Con in San Diego in 1976 and sold for $1.75! Marvel Comics and Howard Chaykin were tasked to create a comic version of this movie in an early marketing effort for the movie that studio executives felt would be a flop without extra marketing efforts. Condition: good to very good. There are some small stains on the back of the poster in a line across the top that bleed through to the front in the orange and yellow and black background at upper left and right and in the center of Vader's helmet at top center. There is an enlarged tack hole in each corner of the poster. There are some light horizontal creases across the poster from it being lightly flattened while rolled but they are not very noticeable or distracting. Other than the small stains at top, the poster is in nice condition and it displays pretty well and if one chose to have it restored it would look fantastic, but I believe many collectors would be quite happy with this very first poster from Star Wars as it is!
