About your life... About your family... About your work... About your doubts... About your dreams... You will see yourself in the leading role as though you were looking in a mirror... This is your film - Federico Fellini"; "This is the story of Guido and his wife and his mistress and the innocent beckoning young girl and all the women in his life, past and present and how they became a living part of his erotic fantasies"; "The story of a man and his imagination - and the women who are so wickedly a part of it!"; after Fellini's 8th movie [plus 1/3 of one movie, plus 1/7 of another movie, which in his mind equaled 8 1/2 movies] he then had difficulty finding a suitable next movie, and he ended up making a movie about that search for a suitable next movie, and he called that movie "8 1/2"!) starring Marcello Mastroianni, Claudia Cardinale, Anouk Aimee, Sandra Milo, Rosella Falk, Barbara Steele, and Madeleine Lebeau NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. "Linenbacking" is a process that is used to preserve movie posters (the best restorers de-acidify the poster during the restoration process), and to make them far easier to display (it is much easier and less expensive to frame a linenbacked poster). When linenbacking is done correctly, it adds to the value of the poster, and is NOT a defect! Note that the specific poster in this auction was well linenbacked, but the restorer likely did not attempt to make the poster look "perfect". You may still see some slight evidence of the restoration and/or the defects when you look at the poster from inches away. But the poster now looks quite nice, and I think most collectors would be extremely happy to display this poster on their wall. In general, know that we received many of the linenbacked posters we are currently selling already linenbacked, but we have examined every poster EXTREMELY carefully, and we did our best to describe what condition the poster was in PRIOR to restoration, the defects the poster had PRIOR to restoration (in the "Pre-Restoration Defects & Quality of Restoration" section), any unrestored defects, and, when it seemed worth noting, something about the quality of the restoration itself. Many other auction houses claim to match what we do in this area, but EVERY person who regularly buys movie posters from major auctions can tell you this is just not the case! We never intentionally overgrade a single item, we never "accidentally" miss defects, and we never enhance a single image! Condition: very good to fine. The poster was never folded and had very minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that there is what appears to be a "foldline" across the center of the image, but actually, it is reproduced (no doubt the poster designer "borrowed" the image from another poster, and the foldline was reproduced along with the art).
