An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #12 (Trial by Fire) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Dick Tracy vs. Crime, Inc. (released in India as "The Invisible Terror"), the 1941 John English & William Witney detective mystery crime action serial ("A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters"; "Based on cartoon strip by Chester Gould"; in this one, Dick Tracy battles a mysterious gangster called "The Ghost", who has the power to make himself invisible) starring Ralph Byrd (in the title role as Dick Tracy), Ralph Morgan, Jan Wiley, John Davidson (as Lucifer), Kenneth Harlan, Michael Owen, C. Montague Shaw, Anthony Warde, and Forrest Taylor. Note that this was the last Dick Tracy serial! It is surprising that it took six years for it to reach the screen in 1937's "Dick Tracy", but once it did, it proved very popular and was followed by three more serials over the next four years, and then after a four year break, the first Dick Tracy feature film was released, which again proved extremely popular, and there were three sequels to that. There were animated cartoons on TV in the 1950s and in 1990, Warren Beatty made a live action movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that because "Trial By Fire" is a common expression and the chapter 12 lobby cards have "Trial by Fire", we believe the typesetter for this poster was having a bad day, and the "Trail By Fire" chapter title was a mistake. We are not certain how many posters were affected (we have seen three with the mistake), but depending on how you look at it, this is either a cool addition or a detraction. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and tiny bits of paper loss in the vertical fold between the middle and bottom crossfolds, with minor wear on the other folds. It had just a few pinholes in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
