Date Sold 4/21/2013 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 37 Ruth Gordon publicity, TV, & movie stills. Note that the items in this lot are from the 1960s to the 1970s. Ruth Gordon was born in 1896. What a full life she had! She started as a stage actress at age 19, and continued there for 24 years. In 1940 she had a memorable movie role (her first real one, at age 44) in Abe Lincoln of Illinois as Mary Todd Lincoln, and she appeared in a handful of other movies, and then stopped making movies again, to return to stage actjng also becoming a playwright! In 1942 she married 16 years younger screenwriter Garson Kanin, and the two began writing screenplays together, most notably two for Tracy and Hepburn. After decades away from the screen, she made some TV appearances, and then (in her 70s) she had her two most meorable roles, in Rosemary's Baby, in Harold and Maude (the cult classic, where she found true love with "teenager" Bud Cort!), and in Where's Poppa? She passed away in 1985 at the age of 88. IMPORTANT! This group of stills contains MANY multiples of the same exact stills (primarily the publicity stills). There may only be EIGHT different images included in this lot, with the rest being multiples of those eight (but it is also quite possible there are other images not pictured). It is also possible that there are many examples of one still, and only one example of one or more of the stills. We realize that there is a clear "gambling" element in bidding on these stills, so please bear that in mind before placing a bid on this lot, and know that we CAN'T open up the lot or answer any questions about it!
