Bread, the 1924 Victor Schertzinger silent family relationship romantic women-at-home-and-in-the-workplace woman's liberation melodrama ("A picturization of the World Famous Novel by Charles G. Norris"; "A Picture of Everyday Tears and Everyday Joy!"; about sisters whose mother is widowed, and so that they won't be a burden on her one immediately marries and has children, and the other gets a job as a stenographer; when the working sister is facing a scandal, she too marries, but is unhappy and leaves, only to find out three years later that she wants a family like her sister, so she returns to her husband!) starring Mae Busch, Robert Frazer, Pat O'Malley, Wanda Hawley, Eugenie Besserer., and Hobart Bosworth Note that as was fairly common in these silent woman's liberation melodramas, the movie has a "happy ending" where both woman "realize" they would be happier with a husband and kids, but these movies still helped awaken feminist ideas in many female viewers' heads. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.
