2 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Confessions of a Co-Ed ("...from her diary"), the 1931 David Burton & Dudley Murphy pregnant girl pre-Code bad girl melodrama starring Phillips Holmes, Sylvia Sidney, Norman Foster, Claudia Dell, Florence Britton, and a super low-billed Bing Crosby (who played one of a trio of singers called "The Rhythm Boys"). Note that Phillips Holmes had made an impression in some movies in the late 1920s. In 1931, he would get the lead in the first version of "An American Tragedy", which made it seem like he would become a major star, but that didn't materialize. He had a major affair with Libby Holman, but that was certainly complicated, and when they broke up, she immediately married his brother! Oddly, years later, Holman would have another very complicated affair with Montgomery Clift, who played the same part in the remake of "An American Tragedy", retitled "A Place in the Sun". Sadly, Holmes died in a plane crash in 1942. I am very surprised no one has made a movie about his life, or a joint movie about him and Libby Holman!

Important Added Info: Note that first release 1931 movie paper from this pre-Code bad girl movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single poster from this movie (and only one lobby card in 2006 and that was reconsigned to us in 2016 and a few 8x10 stills) but NO other movie paper until we were consigned these two lobby cards!). We would LOVE to see what any of the posters look like!

Condition: good to very good. Both cards have tiny pinholes in the upper corners. The card pictured at top has small blank border loss at upper right and a few light scuffs. There is a tiny dot stain in Sidney's thumb. The other card has scuffing scattered in various areas throughout. The cards are otherwise in pretty nice condition and they have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they never have had any restoration of any kind!
