Set of 8 Original Vintage Theatrical English Special Photo Lobby Cards (measure 11"x14") (Learn More)

The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (also released simply as "Nicholas Nickleby"), the 1947 (released in the U.S. in 1948) Alberto Cavalcanti English family relationship romantic melodrama ("Based on the novel by Charles Dickens"; about a young man whose father dies, leaving his family destitute, and his miserable uncle treats him terribly) starring Cedric Hardwicke ("and a Ten-Star Cast"), Mary Merrall, Sally Ann Howes, Sybil Thorndike, Derek Bond (in the title role as Nicholas Nickleby), and Stanley Holloway. Note that this was always one of the lesser known Charles Dickens novels, until 1980, when a massive 8 1/2 hour stage play version was performed in London and on Broadway (in two parts on two consecutive nights).
