A 1970 Re-Release Theatrical Folded Autographed One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Gone with the Wind, the classic 1939 Victor Fleming (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) Civil War era romantic melodrama epic ("The Greatest Motion Picture Ever Made!"; "In the New Screen splendor... The most magnificent picture ever!"; "David O. Selznick's production of Margaret Mitchell's story of the Old South"; "Screen play by Sidney Howard"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Clark Gable (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; "as Rhett Butler"), Vivien Leigh (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "and presenting Vivien Leigh as O'Hara"), Leslie Howard ("as Ashley Wilkes"), Olivia de Havilland (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; "as Melanie"), Hattie McDaniel ("as Mammy"), Thomas Mitchell ("as Gerald O'Hara"), Butterfly McQueen (as Prissy), Ann Rutherford ("as Carreen O'Hara"), George Reeves (in his first credited movie role!), Victor Jory, Jane Darwell, Ward Bond, Ona Munson ("as Belle Watling"), Yakima Canutt, Harry Davenport ("as Dr. Meade"), Carroll Nye ("as Frank Kennedy"), Laura Hope Crews ("as Aunt Pittypat"), Alicia Rhett ("as India Wilkes"), Barbara O'Neil ("as Ellen O'Hara"), Marcella Martin (as Cathleen Calvert), Frank Coghlan Jr., Fred Crank, Rand Brooks, Cammie King Conlan, Patrick Curtis, and William Bakewell

Artist: Howard Terpning
Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by EIGHT people: Olivia de Havilland, Ann Rutherford, Frank Coghlan Jr., Fred Crane, Rand Brooks, Cammie King Conlan, Patrick Curtis AND William Bakewell! This poster was consigned to us from the estate of a very longtime collector, who, for many years, sought out stars at shows and conventions, and he would bring posters from his collection to have them sign. Because they were obtained in person, he does not have any "certificates of authenticity", but we think it is certain that the autographs on this poster are authentic, but bear in mind that it does not come with a certificate.

Also note that the poster has a 1970 copyright date at the bottom, but has been stamped "R74" on the back. It seems likely that there were 1970 posters left over and that they were re-used for the 1974 re-release. We are certain that the poster was printed in 1970 as there are several clear differences between the actual 1974 re-release poster (mainly differences in printing, artwork, paper, and lack of the GAU printing "bug" symbol.) Several of these differences are due to the fact that this 1970 re-release poster uses the printing plate from the 1968 re-release poster, and even retains the 1968 NSS number at lower right!

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.

Condition: good to very good. The poster has creases and tears of varying lengths (approximately 1" or less) along portions of some edges (partially repaired with tape from the back) and there is a small tear in the art of de Havilland's face. It has many light and fine creases.
