eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5w392 QUIET ONE 9 8x10 stills '48 black African American troubled youth Donald Thompson, James Agee Date Sold 2/9/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 9 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) The Quiet One, the 1948 Sidney Meyers psychological teaching disturbed children melodrama (about a school for "special" children in New York; the movie is done in a pseudo-documentary fashion, and it follows one particular emotionally disturbed boy, and tells through flashback what events caused him to end up at the school) starring Donald Thompson, Clarence Cooper, Sadie Stockton, Estelle Evans, Paul Baucum, and narrated by Gary Merrill. Note that the movie was shot at the real-life Wiltwyck School for Boys, and that all the actors were non-professionals, and that Clarence Cooper was a real-life psychiatric counselor at the school. The movie was co-written by famous film critic James Agee, who also provided some of the documentary-like commentary. Probably most interesting about the movie is that it focuses on one boy at the school, and even though the boy (Donald Thompson) is black African American, no emphasis is put on that at all, and it appears that he was simply cast because he was the best actor for the role. Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 9 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
