A 1948 Realart Re-Release Theatrical Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Ghost of Frankenstein, the 1942 Erle C. Kenton Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("New Thrills as the monster stalks again!"; "Original Story, Eric Taylor"; the fourth Universal Frankenstein movie after the three 1930s classics; in this entry, Bela Lugosi as Ygor resurrects the Frankenstein monster and takes him to the doctor's son and they must find a new brain!) starring Cedric Hardwicke (billed as "Sir Cedric Hardwicke"; as Dr. Ludwig Frankenstein), Ralph Bellamy, Lionel Atwill (as Doctor Bohmer), Bela Lugosi (as Ygor), Evelyn Ankers (as Elsa Frankenstein), Lon Chaney Jr. (as the Frankenstein monster), Holmes Herbert, and Janet Ann Gallow NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the posters for the 1948 Realart re-release of this 1942 Universal horror movie were created just six years after the original release. The re-release posters are likely just as rare as the originals, if not more so, likely because fewer theaters played the movie in 1948 than played it in 1942. The 1948 re-release posters have great different images that are not the same as those from the 1942 posters! A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the defects described below, and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. The restoration was done really well, and the poster displays really well. But while the poster can be rolled, we would prefer not to, because it can easily be damaged while it is rolled, so we would greatly prefer to send it in a large flat package, and we will do so unless the new owner insists on it. Condition: very good. The poster was gel backed (see above). This particular poster had been folded once in each direction and there were some small creases along the folds. There was an 8" horizontal crease 1" above the left end of the horizontal fold, with some tiny pinholes and smudges around the edges and a few smudges scattered in the yellow background areas and in the white letters of the title. The poster was gel backed by a talented professional and expert restoration was performed to the above defects. The poster looks fantastic, and it has had truly minor touch up, and best of all, it still completely looks and feels like an unrestored poster! Learn More about condition grades
