Artist: Howard Chaykin Important Added Info: Note that this is the very FIRST poster produced for the first Star Wars movie! In 1976, this poster was printed by George Lucas, and then was given away at places like the San Diego Comic Con in 1976 and 1977, in an attempt to get fans interested in the upcoming movie! It was labeled as the first in the series (it says, "Poster1" in the lower left corner) and more different posters were intended to be printed as giveaways, but no other posters were later made. Note that this special "all Star Wars" auction began with a phone call from a VERY long time collector of Star Wars posters! He told us that he had reached a point in his life where he was wanting to sell his collection, and he asked if we could do it all at one time. Because he had 174 posters (including many of the most rare and desirable ones), we were happy to comply, but we told him that we would like to also add additional rare Star Wars posters from other collectors, and he agreed, and after we were consigned an additional 117 posters and related items, we have our auction! We asked the person who assembled the amazing collection of 174 posters in this auction to share with us a written history of how he came to assemble this amazing collection, and if you CLICK HERE, you will be taken to a separate page that shows you what he wrote for us! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had uneven darkening in the bottom 10" of the left border, in the bottom 8" of the right border, and scattered across the bottom border. It also had two small tears in the lower right blank border, and the poster was folded 1" from the right border, which caused creasing down the right edge of the background down the right side of the poster. Someone performed restoration to the poster without backing it. They did a nice job, and it is only slightly noticeable where there was restoration. However, the poster is now rippled in the left and right of the top of the poster extending down 3" on the left and 5" on the right (this surely occurred after the above restoration was performed). Certainly, any other restorer could flatten this area (or the poster could be displayed as it is), but bear all of the above in mind and look closely at our super-sized image before bidding on this very desirable poster.
